Ladies Match Report away to Warwickshire 18-09-11

We were looking forward to playing Warkwickshire as it is always a good day, with the game usually being very close. But being honest we also were a bit deflated as we only had 9 ladies, so even before we started we had to give 8 games away, which is never a good start.
The first leg started badly losing the first 3 games, but we managed to hang in there losing the section 7-4. But what a comeback we made in the 2nd leg winning it 3-8, it gave us a much needed boost and we soon realised we were still in with a chance of a respectable score. We then went on to win the 3rd and 4th legs 5-6 with some cracking games, with the end result being a win to us, final result 20-24.
What a great result Ladies, and I would like to say how well everyone played, most of the games that were lost were down to the black and also well done to all the ladies that won 3 out of 4. Congratulations to Dawn on receiving Lady of the Match for that awesome clearance on the last game.
Let's keep it going for the next match 23rd October at home to Northants, we can do it.
Can I just remind everyone that the re-arranged games against Oxford are taking place at home on 30th October 2011.

This Sunday was the first opportunity for our youth team to play together in an 11 man side. Up against a very strong and well established Warwickshire side, it was never going to be easy. Especially when four of our players had to pull out at short notice. Thankfully Elliott, Will Osbourne and Mike Clifford were willing to help us out and make up the numbers. Tom McCallum had a real good day for Gloucester, winning three out of four of his frames, to be named as man of the match. Our youngest player, Owen Bennett (10 yrs old) did very well too, winning two out four of his frames. The final score was Warwickshire 25 Gloucestershire 19.
